Social and digital media undoubtedly has had a tremendous impact on public relations, and few PR professionals have studied this as extensively as Donald K. Wright, Ph.D., the Harold Burson Professor and Chair in Public Relations at Boston University’s College of Communication. Dr. Wright is the lead researcher on arguably the longest and largest study of new media’s impact on our profession. He will be sharing his findings from this study, totaling 12 years and surveying nearly 6,000 public relations practitioners.
Key takeaways will include:
- How McDonald’s worked with Golin in the highly successful PR social media campaign regarding making the breakfast menu available 24 hours each day.
- Oops, United Airlines does it’d again! A few years ago we had the “United breaks guitars” crisis, and now the airline is facing another communication problem surrounding what non-revenue passengers can wear during flights. What might be done to eliminate future problems.
- What social media do Americans actually use? The percentages of online adults using Facebook, Twitter and other emerging media.
