Two-thirds of all business crises arise from “smoldering” issues that can be identified and prevented long before they harm the organization's brand and reputation. The majority of these issues are related to employee or manager misconduct that management may be aware of but refuse to address. In one study, companies where a top executive was accused of personal misconduct suffered financial impacts long after the legal side of the case was resolved. Join us as we welcome Deborah Hileman, SCMP, president and CEO of the Institute for Crisis Management. She will address how communicators can identify and prepare to address a variety of "bad behavior" organizational crises.

About the Speaker
A business leader and globally certified strategic communications management professional with 35 years’ experience in public and private companies and non-profit organizations, Deborah Hileman, SCMP has led high-performing communications teams in health care, manufacturing, insurance and financial services and higher education, among others. She is a FEMA-trained Incident Commander with experience as a national EMS public information officer during numerous hurricanes. Known as a voice of calm amidst chaos, Deborah has earned a reputation as a trusted strategist and advisor to C-suite executives, operations and other organizational stakeholders. A longtime IABC member, she is immediate past chair of the Global Communication Certification Council and a current member of the International Executive Board.

Please RSVP early in order to ensure that you are included in the headcount for lunch! If you register as a guest and later determine that you cannot attend, please contact Sara Hunt, chapter administrator, at email@example.com. You must cancel prior to three business days in advance of the meeting to be eligible for a refund. If you cancel after that deadline, you will still be responsible for the lunch payment and will be billed if you didn't already pay online. No-shows will be billed for the lunch.
